Rookley is a village located on the A3020 in the central area of the Isle of Wight, an island off the south coast of England close to Southampton and Portsmouth. Made up of around 200 households and with a population of approximately 500 people, the village is surrounded by farmland and open countryside, some of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Rookley Village Association is a registered Charity and oversees, on behalf of the village residents, Rookley Village Hall and the Recreation & Sports Ground which are both in Highwood Lane on the northern edge of the village.
As well as a football pitch and a cricket wicket the Recreation and Sports Ground also has children's play equipment and a skate park. The Association is made up entirely of volunteers who organise a number of events throughout the year and 'Gardening Galore' in Spring and the traditional 'Village Show' in the Summer are now renowned throughout the island.
